An update to your estimated locations in Google Photos

Google Photos can help you find, explore and look back at your photos and videos by their location, such as a city you visited on a recent trip.

Hi Boby,   Google Photos can help you find, explore and look back at your photos and videos by their location, such as a city you visited on a recent trip. Your photos may have locations if you have your camera location settings turned on, or if you manually add a location. Previously, if some of your photos didn't already have a location, Google Photos could estimate the location using information, such as visible landmarks in those photos and Location History, an opt-in Google account setting that saves where you go with your devices so you can enjoy personalized maps, recommendations and more. What's changing: Google Photos has stopped using information from Location History to estimate locations for new photos and videos. Google Photos can still estimate locations using inputs such as visible landmarks and you'll still be able to turn this "estimate missing locations" setting on or off in Photos at any time. Here's what you can do: • You can choose to keep your existing estimated locations by signing into Google Photos and tapping "Keep" when prompted. • If you don't choose to keep your estimated locations before May 1st, 2023, we will remove these estimations. Rest assured, your photos will not be deleted. • If you want to make changes to your location settings in Google Photos, you have the control to make edits and manage location sources at any time. If you want to change your camera location settings, you can adjust your preferences in your device settings. This change impacts your estimated locations in Google Photos and does not impact your Location History, which is a separate opt-in feature. If you want to delete estimated locations from your photos, you can only do that in Google Photos. If you want to delete locations from your Location History, you may continue to do that within your Location History settings. We are grateful that you choose Google Photos to store your memories.
